195 Short Film-Tom Pearman & Floro Azqueta

195” is a film project exploring the former New Landsdowne Social Club, Mare Street, Hackney, London E8. The site-specific project is a collaboration with film-maker and photographer Floro Azqueta and public artist Tom Pearman for the Open House Festival 2023.
The film celebrates the history of 195 Mare Street by exploring its architectural features and those particularly found in the building’s basement. Tom’s work often investigates simple technology using a lo-tech and graphic aesthetic. Employing a similar theme, the film incorporates the discovery of electrical devices that emit lit graphics and simple electrical sounds.

By combining Floro’s visual film language and Tom’s graphic style, 195 offer an exciting piece of experimental film, unique to its fascinating location and at the same time celebrate the process of exploration. Additional sound design by Max and Ben Ringham.
